Machine Maintenance Mechanic

SUMMARY

Conduct mechanical and electrical repairs of Multi-Spindle Screw Machines, CNC Machines and other industrial

equipment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


  •  Troubleshoot problems on CNC Lathes/Mills and Screw Machines to determine root cause.
  •  Assist machine operators in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  •  Prioritize repairs and schedule maintenance to be performed.
  •  Perform research to find parts and competitive pricing for repairs and make purchase with proper approval.
  •  Perform research to determine how to repair new equipment.
  •  Follow machine maintenance schedule and conduct preventative maintenance.
  •  Maintain appropriate inventory supplies.
  •  Set up new equipment and machinery.
  •  Work with vendors to troubleshoot machine problems over the phone and in person.
  •  Set up machine files and record technical notes of maintenance.
  •  Set up preventative maintenance files for machines and other equipment.
  •  Track machine repair cost and evaluate service life to justify new capital expenditures.
  •  Conduct annual LOTO inspections.
  •  Write hazardous energy control procedures.
  •    Ensure compliance with ISO quality procedures, plant safety procedures, OSHA and other government agency        regulations.
  •  Travel to seller location and evaluate potential equipment purchase.
  •  Interact with machine operators and various departments in a professional manner.
  •  Maintain organization and cleanliness of maintenance department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Degree in maintenance from a technical college; and or two to four years of experience with similar duties in a machine

shop atmosphere. Knowledge of the following electrical processes: industrial wiring, building and electrical codes, CNC

Controls, transformer and buss bar.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Ability to complete Herker Industries Forklift Training program and Herker Industries Lockout/Tagout Authorized

Employee Training program.

Must be able to move around all angles and get into all areas of machine, equipment and parts of the buildings. This will require climbing, kneeling, crawling and reaching into things that are being worked on. Must have the ability to smell in order to tell proper set up and alignment of parts. Must have good close, distance, color, and peripheral vision and good depth perception with the ability to adjust focus.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Will work on all machines, equipment, and areas of the plants. Will work near moving parts and must know how to properly control all sources of energy in accordance Herker’s Lockout/Tagout program. Will encounter moderate to loud noise levels. Must be able to work at varies heights throughout the facilities. May encounter high levels of heat while working on machines. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

HOURS

4 Day Work Week (Monday – Thursday) Hours are open at this time (2nd shift or Split Shift – to be determined during the interview)
