CNC Set-up/Operator


SUMMARY

Set-up and operate CNC Mills or Lathes to produce precision machined metal parts.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Read and/or complete machine set-up sheet.
  • Set-up machine to be used for production.
  • Assist with quality control plan details.
  • Follow 1st piece inspection procedure.
  • Acquire parts to be machined.
  • Read blueprint, job order and tooling instructions for production requirements.
  • Machine parts to required specifications.
  • Inspect machined pieces to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Move parts to designated areas.
  • Replace worn tooling as needed.
  • Remove and return tooling when job is complete.
  • Suggest machining methods to improve job efficiency.
  • Work within OSHA and ISO standards.
  • Follow established safety procedures.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance duties.
  • Perform daily housekeeping duties.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; and 1 year of related experience.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, basic geometry and trigonometry. Ability to compute rate is also required. Must be able to use micrometers, calipers, and other gages for measuring.

Position requires the ability place parts into machine and remove them as need. Must be able to use hands and fingers to manipulate parts.  Must be able to communicate clearly to other employees. Must have good close vision to inspect parts.

Position works near moving parts and worker may be exposed to fumes and airborne particles given off by fluids used in machines. Position works in a moderate to loud noise area.
